Thank you for wanting to help us here at Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue. You have completed step one of become a volunteer here at the rescue and have submitted you Volunteer Application. Now that you have been schedule for your first visit to the facility we will need you to fill out the following forms for our files.

There will be four (4) forms you will be filling out prior to Volunteering at Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue. They are as follows 1st. Release of Liability, 2nd RVHR Rules, 3rd Pledge of Confidentiality and 4th Acknowledgement of electronic signatures.

Please read each form and enter the needed information. When done click submit you will be directed to the next form needed. We look forward to working with you on your new endeavor here helping to care for animals in need.

For reasons of legal and financial liability due to the possibility of injury when dealing with horses we require the reading and signing of this form by any individual and/or responsible party before allowing that partake in any rescue activity at this facility or at any other facility being used by Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc..  Please be aware that this is a legal and binding release of liability and is admissible in a court of law.

I, hereby knowingly executed this waiver of the right to sue and agree to assume all risks of the equine activity at Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc.  I understand and agree that equine activities involve certain intrinsic dangers.  These dangers include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  1. The propensity of an equine to behave in ways which may result in injury, harm or death to person on or around, and
  2. The unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movements and unfamiliar object, person or other animals, and
  3. Certain hazards such as surface and subsurface conditions (These hazardous surface conditions include but are not limited to such things as rocks, boulders, trees, mud puddles, ice patches, stumps, fences, and/or other hard objects whether man made or natural and/or holes, ground hog holes, caves, divots, ledges, and/or cliffs which could cause an equine to trip and/or fall and/or could strike a participant who falls from or is thrown from and equine.); and
  4. Collisions with other animals or objects, and
  5. The potential of a participant acting in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the equine or not acting within the participant’s ability.

I hereby assume the risk of equine activities I may engage with Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc. and hereby waive the right to sue and hereby release any and all Officers of Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc. from any and all legal liability pursuant to the “Virginia Equine Activity Liability Act,” of the Code of Virginia (Section 3.1-796.130 et seq.)

To the extent inconsistent with the terms hereof, this Waiver of Rights and assumption of Risk supersedes all prior agreements and understanding between Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc. and me, and shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the commonwealth of Virginia.  This Waiver of Rights and Assumption of Risk shall remain valid and in force until canceled by me in writing, hand-delivered to Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc.

By signing my name below, I acknowledge that I have read and understand this Waiver of Rights and Assumption of Risk of Equine Activity Pursuant to Virginia code Section 3.1-796.103 et seq., and that I agree to be bound by its terms. 

I further agree that I will be responsible for and indemnify and hold Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, Inc. harmless from any damage, sickness or injury caused by any animal, which I bring upon the property.
