RVHR FAQ
What is RVHR?
RHVR (Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue) is a non-profit 501 c 3 organization, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.
Where does RVHR get its funding?
RVHR funding is from public donations and small grants. RVHR does NOT get paid by local counties to take seized horses into the facility or programs.
Does RVHR work alongside Animal Control?
Yes, RVHR DOES give first priority to assisting Animal Control officers with seized horses or those in need of assistance.
Are all horses at RVHR seized by Animal Control?
No; owner released horses ARE accepted into the RVHR Programs only when room is available and the owner agrees to donate an intake fee (normally$500.00) to help with the horse’s care for the first few months.
Is RVHR an equine retirement facility?
No, RVHR is NOT an equine retirement facility.
Does RVHR euthanize horses?
Yes, at the discretion of its Board of Directors.
To whom does RVHR report activity?
RVHR reports all activity to the Virginia Dept of Agriculture. Link to 2009 2008, 2007 records
Can RVHR remove needy horses from their current areas of residence?
No, RVHR can NOT take horses in need away from their owners.

You can use the search box by just typing in the horse name.
